Are you attending high school and feel that your future is in medicine, pharmacy or biotechnology? Are you interested not only in new knowledge, but also in how it is created? You are in the right place! Medical University of Gdańsk is the only medical university in Poland with the status of a research university, and our lecturers will be happy to share their knowledge with you.
Take part in the Science is People educational program. This is not only a chance to gain advanced knowledge, but also a unique opportunity to learn what the scientific research resulting in that knowledge is like.
Classes in the anatomy labs will provide a tremendous opportunity for advanced repetition of neuroanatomy. During these classes, you will not only learn on classic cadavers, but also a modern interactive anatomy table.
You will visit laboratories where research is conducted to develop therapies to stimulate the brain’s repair potential. For patients suffering from multiple sclerosis, among other things, it would provide hope for a return to an active life.
We will introduce you to the secrets of surgery and the directions of development in this branch of medicine. We will talk about the applications of artificial intelligence and the challenges it presents. You will also learn basic surgical techniques and instruments and learn how to apply surgical sutures.
We will show you how many people with different expertise are part of an interdisciplinary team working to uncover the biology of cancer and create new diagnostic tools for patients.
You will learn about clinical trials in cardiology and the process of heart transplantation. You will see how we can study microcirculation, what 3D models and simulation labs are used for.
You will see how important proper sleep hygiene is, and the importance that sleep disorders can have on cardiovascular disease. You will learn about the Sleep Laboratory’s diagnostic capabilities.
You will learn what biodiversity has to do with the incidence of zoonotic diseases and the importance of conscious and sound management of ecosystems.
Doctors, geneticists, toxicologists and forensic anthropologists will introduce you to the secrets of their professions. You will try your hand at selected activities conducted to identify victims or criminals.
And finally – you will meet with MUG’s students, who will be happy to share their experiences with you, answer your questions and show you the most interesting corners of the Tri-City! It will also be a great opportunity to integrate with other program participants!
We will be waiting for applications until September 30, 2024.
The program includes 6 weekend meetings, which will be held at the premises of the Medical University of Gdańsk. Participants from outside the Pomeranian Voivodeship are provided with accommodation.
