ABOUT US

The Clinical Immunology Laboratory is a core facility established within the Department of Rheumatology, Clinical Immunology, Geriatrics and Internal Medicine as part of the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme. The Laboratory’s activities are based on the long-standing experience of the staff of the Department of Rheumatology, Clinical Immunology, Geriatrics and Internal Medicine.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Laboratory conducts research on:

  • autoimmune diseases
  • regulation of immune response based on immune checkpoint pathways (in oncological and autoimmune diseases)
  • comprehensive analyses of side effects of immune checkpoint inhibitor therapies (ICIs)
  • immunological disorders in chronic diseases, primarily chronic connective tissue diseases
  • effects of stress factors on immune system function
  • analysis of biologically active compounds with immunomodulatory potential.

Research includes, among others, immune cell phenotyping (T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, dendritic cells), analysis of T and B lymphocyte activity (proliferation, cytokine production), assessment of serum parameters (cytokines, chemokines, growth factors), and molecular analyses of isolated subpopulations. Additionally, the Laboratory offers the possibility to study the effects of various compounds on immune cell function.
