More than 100 researchers have applied for research projects in this year’s edition of the Grant Program Young Creator of Science. The purpose of the Competition is to initiate and develop scientific research on research topics covering three Priority Research Areas, i.e. oncology, cardiology and cardiovascular medicine, and biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology.
The projects are at the stage of substantive evaluation. To ensure the highest quality of reviews, we have also invited external reviewers to collaborate. The competition is expected to be resolved in September.
Professionals employed at the Medical University of Gdańsk in the research and teaching track, as well as doctoral students, including participants in the MUG doctoral schools, could apply for funding under the competition. The maximum amount that applicants could apply for was PLN 50,000.
In the first edition of the competition, held in 2021, more than PLN 2 million was awarded to the Laureates for the implementation of 49 research projects. Both editions of the competition were conducted as part of the implementation of the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” Program.
– The ability to function efficiently in the system of modern science is a key competence of the modern researcher. One of the elements of this system is obtaining grants for scientific research – says Prof. Tomasz Bączek, the rector’s plenipotentiary for the implementation of the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” Program. – The “Young Science Maker” competition, aimed at our youngest researchers, for many of our applicants, is the first important test of these skills. I believe that our university initiative is an investment that will translate not only into interesting research results but also further grant success to our employees.
