We cordially invite you to a distinguished event, which will be held on March 14, 2025, at the Kieturakis Hall, IMC building from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The Fahrenheit Union of Gdańsk-an alliance of three major universities in the city (the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology, and the University of Gdańsk)-is launching a new initiative dedicated to space research. To mark this occasion, two scientists from the European Space Agency (ESA), Dr. Anna Fogtman and Dr. Maybritt Kuypers, will join us to discuss current challenges, research needs, and opportunities in space exploration.

Lecture 1: Physiological Risks of Spaceflight by Dr. Maybritt Kuypers, a practicing flight surgeon for the European Space Agency, will explain the key physiological challenges astronauts face, including considerations for future explorations missions to the Moon and beyond.

Lecture 2: Radiation Risks and Spaceflight Operations – by Dr. Anna Fogtman.
Anna will address the various radiation hazards encountered in orbit and beyond, along with operational strategies to safeguard astronauts and equipment.

Lecture 3: European Space Agency’s Research Program by Dr. Anna Fogtman.
Here, Anna will outline the research programme of ESA’s Human and Robotic Exploration Directorate, showcasing ESA’s research facilities, and discuss current and future research opportunities at ESA’s facilities and research institutions worldwide.

Panel Discussion
A brief panel discussion-featuring both speakers, a representative from the Polish Space Agency, and officials from the City of Gdańsk-will conclude the event. Topics will include opportunities for collaboration, research roadmap and regional and economic impacts, and the role of students in advancing space research.

We extend a cordial invitation to you!
