Representatives of Chungnam National University (CNU) from South Korea met with the authorities of the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and University of Gdańsk on 23 September. The guests’ visit was an opportunity to discuss cooperation and to present the three Pomeranian campuses.
The talks were preceded by individual presentations by each university – Prof. Michał Markuszewski, rector of GUMed, followed by Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of PG, and Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, rector of UG and chairman of the Assembly of the Union. The CNU was represented by Prof. Jeong-Kyoum Kim, President, Prof. Hyun Joo An, Vice President for International Affairs, and Prof. Dae Hoon Kwak, Director of the Office of the President.
Also present at the meeting were from the Medical University of Gdańsk – Prof. Anna Żaczek, Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation, Dr. Habil. Michal Hoffman, Vice-Chancellor for Clinical Affairs, Prof. Tomasz Bączek, Rector’s Representative for the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” Program, and Olga Hofman, Head of Administration Department for the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” Program.
The first part of the meeting concluded with the signing of cooperation agreements between the universities forming the Daniel Fahrenheit Association of Universities and Chungnam National University. The guests were then given a tour of the university campuses of MUG, Gdańsk Tech, and UG. At the University Clinical Centre, Director Jakub Kraszewski and deputy director Adam Sudoł, accompanied by MUG vice-chancellor for clinical affairs Dr. Habil. Michał Hoffmann, showed the Early Phase Clinical Research Centre, which was described by Zofia Specht-Szwoch, Ph.D. and Prof. Rafał Dziadziuszko.
