Leader of the MUG’s Brain Diseases Centre will be the chairman of the Clinical Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences

27.06.2024

Professor Bartosz Karaszewski, Head of the Department of Neurology, Division of Adult Neurology and the Brain Diseases Centre of the MUG was elected the chairman of the Clinical Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences on May 27. The appointment ceremony for the four-year term was held on June 19 at the Staszic Palace in Warsaw. The chairman is elected among the members of the Committee. Among the 40 members of the Committee, 30 are elected through a nationwide procedure in which all independent academics in the relevant disciplines are eligible to vote.

The Clinical Sciences Committee, in terms of its expert potential and brand, has a position between two large spheres of state activity — the one under the Ministry of Science and the one under the Ministry of Health. The opinion-forming and creative potential of the Committee and the sub-specialist sections that may be formed around it can be used in many aspects related to the practical development of clinical medicine in Poland – says Prof. Karaszewski in an interview for Puls Medycyny.

One of Committee’s tasks is to undertake activities for the development of the medical specialties represented by the organization, and to use their achievements for the benefit of the country. In addition, it is involved in the development of expert reports, the presentation of scientific opinions or commenting on matters of state scientific policy (especially the directions of development and research priorities in the scientific disciplines concerned). It also initiates and conducts cooperation with domestic and foreign facilities.
