19.02.2024

Between February 7 and 10, 2024, doctoral students Marika Frańczak and Patryk Mucha from the MUG’s Department of Biochemistry successfully participated in the 44th International Conference in Marseille, organized by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) – Pharmacology and Molecular Mechanisms (PAMM) Group. The event provided a forum for presentations and discussion of the latest oncological advances in pharmacology and molecular mechanisms.

Patryk Mucha presented the results of his research in a poster entitled Methylmalonic acid-novel oncometabolite modulates tumor energy metabolism and progression. His research has focused on the role of methylmalonic acid as a novel oncometabolite affecting tumor energy metabolism and progression.

On the other hand, Marika Frańczak, who was awarded for the best poster, conducts research on lactate dehydrogenase inhibition in malignant mesothelioma tissues. The poster entitled Combined Inhibition of LDH-A and GLUT-1: A Promising Strategy for Treatment of Malignant Mesothelioma, presented a strategy for treating malignant mesothelioma by simultaneously inhibiting LDH-A and GLUT-1.
