Professor José Luis Capelo Martinez from NOVA University of Lisbon will give an open lecture Prescriptomics on 9 February 2023 at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format in the seminar room of the Division of Oral Microbiology, MUG (25 Debowa Street, 80-204 Gdańsk) and online via the Zoom platform (link to meeting). No advance registration is required for the event.

The lecture and the visit of Prof José Luis Capelo Martinez are the results of a scientific collaboration between the Professor’s team and a group of researchers from the Department of Medical Microbiology, the Department of Physiopathology, and the Department of Experimental Rheumatology of the Medical University of Gdańsk. The collaboration aims to develop innovative diagnostics for urinary tract infections.

During the lecture, Prof Capelo Martinez will present the concept of prescriptomics driven by analytical chemistry, advances in sample processing, mass spectrometry, chromatography, and bioinformatics in the context of personalised treatment. The specialist will mainly focus on the application of urinary proteomic analysis in the diagnosis of bladder cancer.
