Many medical school employees combine research or research and teaching work with clinical activity. That last two years of the fight against the pandemic have been particularly difficult for them, although its negative consequences affect everyone, regardless of their tasks. This time has proven that a holistic view of the employee is a necessity today, not just one of the options. Broadly understood well-being is one of the important components of motivation for daily work, whether it involves conducting scientific activities or supporting academics in their tasks.
Problems on the professional level (including the most serious form of them, defined as a state of burnout) can have different origins and different courses, but they almost always impede functioning and reduce the quality of life.
– There is no other way to reduce the risk of burnout than taking kind, intentional care of yourself and your own resources, and being open to accepting help. On the other hand, the workplace side should strategically and wisely support employees to increase balance and well-being, and provide concrete solutions – says Danuta Rocławska, a psychologist and expert in crisis intervention and psychoeducation.
The IDUB Program Office and the Employee Development Support Department, in cooperation with the expert, have prepared a package of activities to support and inspire broad self-care. Their common goal is to raise awareness of mental health, reinforce skills to create good habits, and as a result, jointly create a harmonious and sustainable workplace, focused on actively nurturing the mental health of employees.
